Levain Bakery’s Cookie Weighs in at 6 oz. each

Nestled in New York City’s Upper West Side, Levain Bakery headquarters is a teeny-tiny neighborhood bakery where a steady stream of locals are greeted by name as they stand side-by-side with tourists in-the-know, eager to sample the legendary baked goods.

Levain’s cookies push the limits of the definition of cookie. Weighing in at 6 ounces each they are more the size of generous muffin tops. Each flavor is rich, buttery, super-decadent. One cookie is not dessert. Calorie-wise you might consider it your appetizer, main course and dessert. Are the calories worth it? Oh, yeah. It’s been our privilege to stand in line to order one of each flavor–Chocolate Chip Walnut, Oatmeal Raisin, Dark Chocolate Chip and Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip. The edges have a slightly firmer cookie texture. As you nibble your way in the cookie has a cookie/cake-y crumb. The middle is a soft oooey goooey celebration of sweet.
